N. Vivekanandan has post graduated in mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1991. In addition, he has received five Master’s degree viz., M.A.(Public Administration) from University of Madras, M.E.(Hydrology) from University of Roorkee, M.B.A.(Human Resources) from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, M.Phil.(Mathematics) from Bharathiar University, and M.A.(Sociology) from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. He has also received PG Diploma’s in hydrology, computer applications, software based statistical analysis, operations research, statistical methods and applications, and personnel management & industrial relations. He has professional experience of 27 years in R&D. He has associated in conducting R&D studies related to rainfall-runoff modelling, flood modelling, hydropower, irrigation planning, low-flow and drought management, soft computing, water resources planning and management, big data analytics, climate change, etc. He has performed the key role in implementing the World Bank aided hydrology project at CWPRS in two successive terms, viz., Hydrology Project Phase-I (2000 to 2004) and Hydrology Project-II (2007 to 2014). He has also performed as resource person for various technical events organized by educational institutions and R&D organizations. In addition, he is the member of editorial board and review panel of 15 national/ international journals. He has published more than 200 technical papers in national & international journals as also in national & international Conferences. He has worked as principle investigator for more than 50 R&D studies which include estimation of design flood, assessment of water resources, rainfall-runoff modellng, flood modellng, low-flow and drought assessment, river training works, area drainage studies, climate change and storm water drainage, etc. He has received a fellowship and many awards which includes (i) Ministry of Water Resources fellowship for PG Diploma course in hydrology and water resources; (ii) Gold Medal of Union Ministry of Irrigation and Power for the paper published in Institute of Engineer’s (India) journal in 2008; (iii) Award from Ministry of Water Resources for the paper presented in India Water Week-2012; (iv) Best paper award from Bal Krishna Institute of Technology, Kota (Rajasthan) for the paper presented in ICATETR-2016 conference; (v) Award from Vellore Institute of Technology for the paper presented in ICSMA-2017 conference; and (vi) Award from Ministry of Jal Shakti for the paper presented in India Water Week-2019.
